The Empire at Broadway
Mayor Cicilline joins The Procaccianti Group (TPG) as they announced their purchase of the former Providence Police and Fire Station in LaSalle Square in downtown Providence. TPG, who acquired the site from the Providence Redevelopment Agency, plans to build a 22-story, 496,000-square-foot Class "A" office tower. Development plans also call for a structured parking facility with the capacity for approximately 522 vehicles and 25,000 square feet of pedestrian friendly retail space. The proposed Empire at Broadway project will be Providence's largest office space development in several decades.
"The Procaccianti Group is a critical partner in building upon the incredible momentum we have in Providence, and its purchase of the long-vacant LaSalle Square property is a shining example of that important work," said Mayor Cicilline. "The location of The Empire at Broadway makes it a gateway for visitors to downtown Providence. Also, the project's plans call for two things downtown needs: more parking and enough office space to attract and keep larger tenants in our great city."
TPG's downtown properties also include the Fogarty Building at 111 Fountain Street, The Westin Providence Hotel and The Residences at The Westin Providence, currently under construction, and the Holiday Inn, which is being converted to a Hilton Hotel and recently won the Hilton Hotel's best conversion award.
"It has been more than two decades since the last office complex of this magnitude has been built in Providence," said James A. Procaccianti, President & CEO, The Procaccianti Group. "We are honored to contribute to Providence's continued renaissance through the expansion of the Powerblock"
The Project is due for completion in 2010.
